Program Structure
Amount of PRS experience in first three years. PGY4-6 consist of entirely PRS rotations.
  1. 3 months of PRS in PGY1
  2. 6 months of PRS in PGY2
  3. 9 months of PRS IN PGY3
Electives
Elective opportunities to explore PRS sub-specialties and professional interests.
1 month elective per year in PGY4-6 (usually within already UTMB-affiliated sites, but can be arranged with significant planning for outside institutions)
Cosmetic
Cosmetic/aesthetic experience.
Rotations with aesthetic private practice surgeons in PGY4 (3 m), PGY5 (2 m), and PGY6 (3 months)
Global Surgery
Opportunities to participate in international electives, mission trips, or research.
Multiple trip options (Austin Smiles, regular trips with Shriners attendings to outreach clinics in Mexico and Latin America), usually in PGY5 & PGY6
Gender Affirmation
Main site top surgery only, bottom surgery at some satellite sites
